• The Evolving Web of Future Wealth: Scientific American - Stuart Kauffman hypthesizes that "the web of connections among goods and services in an economy may be the long-missing key to understanding how novel innovations and new wealth arise."
• A Seismic Shift in Epistemology (EDUCAUSE Review) | EDUCAUSE CONNECT - Chris Dede explores how "Web 2.0 is redefining what and how and with whom we learn." An intersting dip into the wiki driven definition of knowledge. He touches on many good points but skips across the power of the Web as "ancillary brain".

• How Little Do Users Read? (Jakob Nielsen’s Alertbox) - From Jakob Nielsen: Why it is important to keep your text short and simple. From the article: “On the average Web page, users have time to read at most 28% of the words during an average visit; 20% is more likely.”
• Can You Become a Creature of New Habits? - New York Times - From the article: “…brain researchers have discovered that when we consciously develop new habits, we create parallel synaptic paths, and even entirely new brain cells, that can jump our trains of thought onto new, innovative tracks.”
• Recruiting 3.0: Web Advances Change the Landscape - Interesting workforce recruiting article from WSJ: “Advances in technology make the way jobs are found and filled online distinctly different from just a few years ago.”
• Human Resources 2.0 - HR World - Arrrrrrgggghhhh!! Enough with the “2.0″ monikers! I suppose the title is inevitable and Jennifer McAdams does a fast pass at Web 2.0 without discussing the obvious HR issues of privacy, transparency, and possible worker productivity drops.
• List of Open Innovation & Crowdsourcing Examples - Best practices - Open innovation and crowdsourcing - Great list of crowdsourcing and open innovation projects and resources.
• Techdirt: Ideas Are Everywhere… So Why Do We Limit Them? - Mike Masnick’s thoughts on the Gladwell article (below). He hits the nail on the head by defining: “Innovation isn’t idea generation. Innovation is taking an idea and making it do something useful.”
• Annals of Innovation: In the Air: Reporting & Essays: The New Yorker - Very interesting New Yorker article from Malcom Gladwell on how “the history of science is full of ideas that several people had at the same time.” Has great implication for the theory of diversity being a primary driver of innovation.
• Wirearchy :: Retrospective on KM and the Impact of Web 2.0 - “…it’s always useful to look back every once in a while, if only to see how far and fast (or not) we’ve come since this Web thing started to penetrate more deeply and spread more widely into the workplace.”

These are my links for March 5th through March 10th:

• Phun - 2D Physics Sandbox (Cool - Download This!) - What a great example of discovery learning, playing to learn, and "teaching" advanced concepts on the Web (OK - on the computer). If you have a geek-in-training at home, have her (or him) download this and play - boom - instant physics course.
• Scope of Learning Responsibility (The Learning Circuits Blog) - I hope to have time to respond to this one soon. I think the responsibility of corporate learning organizations is changing as quickly as the way people learn is - all due to the Web. The new responsibility may be curator.
• The Social Graph: Issues and Strategies in 2008 - Dion does the crystal ball as to the impact of social networks in 2008. Loads of insight and ideas that can easily be extrapolated to learning. Although, I don't agree on fatigue - people will tire of too many profiles and demand integration.
• From Push to Pull: Emerging Models for Mobilizing Resources - A lengthy but insightful whitepaper from John Hagel and John Seely Brown from way back in October 2005. It begins (?) Hagels continued discussion of the organizational transformation needed to move from push to pull.

• First Look: Kluster’s Market Approach to Crowdsourcing - A nice article on the forthcoming Kluster.com. Sounds like a nice spin on crowdsourcing plus a predictive market for the ideas generated plus financial incentive. As these markets grow people need to learn how to harness their potential

• Don’t Overlook Amazon’s Web Services Business - Seeking Alpha - Another article extolling the business value of Amazon's web services. But, I would need to see clearer numbers on both the cost and return of AWS before I would label AWS "the future of Amazon".
